Radiatore Pasta

Tuesday Twosome.
Radiatore pasta noodle was introduced into our household this evening. It's a whimsical pasta, known as the "radiator" for its ruffled rigid shape. It is a great choice for scooping up sauce.

It was "2 for Tuesday" in Mama's kitchen. Pesto, plain, red sauce were all the requests. The kids ate non-stop from 4pm on. First Hannah and Elie devoured 1/2 a Focaccia loaf with salami as their afternoon snack. Then, I served up the first batch of pasta with homemade pesto pulled out of the freezer from our summer harvest of fresh basil.  Then they were off to swim practice, though not before Hannah's claim of wishing she was Italian...how she LOVES their food. Katy too noshed on the salami and Focaccia upon her return home from Brownies (Cookie sales start this Friday. Holler if you want any!)

I had an hour to come up with the 2nd or you could say, third course of the evening. That's where the twosome was introduced:

Pesto Radiatore with sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms and peas
The only prep was sauteed mushrooms with oil packed sun-dried tomatoes and steaming the peas. Tossing all ingredients and BAM. Deliciouso.

Radiatore Marinara with Italian Sausage
Tossed the noodles with the simmering marinara. Served the first batch to the kids and added sausage for the adult version.

What a tasty treat of two different flavors, using the mini radiators as the base. Seriously, I think we need to consider changing "Gillaspey" to  "Gillespie" or "Giseppe"... we are feeling very comfortable in this country.
